The Klopper Friday Club Jumble Sale

In partnership with Ukwakha Isizwe Foundation, the Klopper Friday Club community is hosting a fun and lively jumble sale for the Klopper Park area and beyond (including Elandsfontein) on Saturday, 2 June. The idea behind the day is to connect with the community while also selling furniture, clothing and various items for really low prices to raise money for a jungle gym.

It’s going to be a day full of fun with a jumping castle for the kids, lots of music, face painting, and, of course, tea and coffee with balloons!
We are seeing a lot of kids in the Klopper Park area come through to the Friday night group, and this is one way in which we want to connect with the parents of these kids and connect with more families in the area and its surrounds.

If you have clothing, ornaments or anything that can be sold at the jumble sale and would like to donate, please call the Cornerstone office at 011-616-4073 or email info@cornerstonechurch.co.za.

Courageous – Film Screening

Four men, one calling: To serve and protect. As law enforcement officers, they are confident and focused, standing up to the worst the streets have to offer. Yet at the end of the day, they face a challenge that none of them are truly prepared to tackle: fatherhood. When tragedy strikes home, these men are left wrestling with their hopes, their fears, their faith, and their fathering. Can a newfound urgency help these dads draw closer to God … and to their children? Protecting the streets is second nature. Raising their children in a God-honouring way? That’s courageous.

Join us at Central, bring friends and some food for a screening of this film from the makers of Fireproof.

The Exchange – 4 May

Think about it: how did you get your job? Why do you spend your working day in the way you do?

Continuing with the series on Making the Most of Life, Andrew Mildenhall will be sharing on the topic “Believe That the Job You Do Makes a Difference” on Friday 4 May at The Exchange where he’ll be addressing some of these questions.

Andrew has been an SAA pilot for 17 years with 11 000 hours of flying and 1 200 hours of flight instruction. Currently he flies on all SAA routes in South Africa and Africa. He’s been an Exco member of SAAPA (South African Airline Pilots Association) and heads up the Operations portifolio which oversees the working conditions of 800 pilots. He’s also been on the salary negotiating team.

When asked what the most interesting aircraft is that he’s flown, Andrew says, in the large aircraft category, definitely the Airbus.

“It’s so advanced with its fly by wire systems and often requires you to think outside the box when things start to go wrong. Yet at the same time it has so many backup systems which makes it one of the safest passenger aircrafts to fly in.

In the small aircraft category, Andrew says definitely the Pilatus PC12.

“Here is a single engine turbo prop which is capable of doing what other two engine aircraft can do and is probably more sophisticated than most light twin-engined jets.”

He adds that he has the best office window in the world.

Andrew is a great example of a man who has an apostolic heart, believes that his job makes a difference and he certainly trusts the leading of the Holy Spirit each day. Come hear his inspiring talk at The Exchange on the 4th of May, 2012.

The Exchange is our monthly breakfast meeting that focuses on the marketplace. It’s for everyone in the marketplace: young and old, male and female, business owners, employees, executives and entrepreneurs – no exclusions. Work is a God-given tool that has far-reaching implications for the future. Our heart is to equip you on how to advance the Kingdom of God, share the life of the Gospel and get involved practically in building our nation. The workplace is a key component in doing all this.

This series is a passionate, yet practical view on the real working environment. Invite your friends and colleagues and join us on 4 May at 6am.
