The Exchange on 4 March

The Desires of the Flesh

This Friday, 4 March

This Friday we continue with the second part in our series Discipling in the Trenches. We’re looking at 1 John 2:15 – 17 and unpacking its relevance to how we lead ourselves and disciple others in the workplace.
1 John 2:15 – 17
“Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world—the desires of the flesh and the desires of the eyes and pride in possessions—is not from the Father but is from the world. And the world is passing away along with its desires, but whoever does the will of God abides for ever.”
We’ll be looking at understanding what the ‘desires of the flesh’ actually are and how the enemy uses them to try and distract and disqualify us from being the disciples of Jesus we are called to be in the workplace. Jesus has given us the power and will to live lives victorious over these desires of the flesh. This Friday, we’ll show just how much he has done that.

Hidden Treasures

Dealing with loss
with Bill Taylor

It’s The Exchange this Friday as we continue with our series, Hidden Treasures. Bill Taylor will be sharing on the topic, Dealing with Loss.

The loss of business and the resulting financial difficulty can be incredibly difficult. But what if you’ve also lost a child? How does that feel? How do you handle it? And what do you do about the people who work for you who will also lose their jobs?

This is what Bill will be sharing on this coming Friday. Bill has had an extensive career that began with Nestlé and includes Shell and Wilkinson Lion Sales. In 1984 he started his own company called Network Field Marketing (NFM), a strategic marketing company that represents many international and local fast moving consumer goods (FMCG).

Bill has also been involved in mission work and social justice issues. He has been on the Board of Zambia Project which has launched over 50 micro-businesses in its local communities, established water wells, run medical outreaches and created an art programme where ladies with HIV can sell their crafts globally. He is also an elder at Cornerstone Church.

The Exchange – 12 October

with guest speaker Jedd Schroy from Paradigm Shift

A handout might enable the poor to survive one more day, but can they be given tools to escape poverty for good? Paradigm Shift is a ministry equipping South African churches by training them to provide business training, micro loans, mentoring and discipleship to the urban poor as an ongoing church-based outreach. By empowering South African churches to provide the poor in their communities with economic development and discipleship, the Paradigm Shift programme equips South African church volunteers to provide long-term solutions to the poverty around them.

Jedd Schroy is the Executive Director and co-founder of Paradigm Shift. Before Paradigm Shift, Jedd was a branch manager for a US-based Fortune 500 financial services company, served as the Director of Development for the National Association of Evangelicals and worked at the Overseas Private Investment Corporation in Washington DC. Jedd is an entrepreneur, having started and managed his own business. He is also an author and has been a guest speaker for the Carnegie Mellon Tepper School of Business’ MBA programme. Jedd has worked, studied and served in more than thirty countries.
