Christianity Explored

Invite lots of people! This is a great series and a brilliant opportunity! You can still invite people to this even though it has started.

We’re running Christianity Explored at Bedfordview (6pm) and Rosebank (5:30pm) every Sunday evening from 10 – 31 May. It’s a four week series that gives people space and opportunity to really think through who Jesus is and why he matters. It’s ideal for people who are sceptical about Jesus or have lots of questions.

Each evening will include a short video or two and then a time for Q&A. The video below explains more about the series.

Kaleidoscope 2015

We all carry the image and likeness of our creator, carrying a beauty distinctly our own. And each one of us is loved by God. Endlessly. Furiously. Unreservedly.

We all have our story. What is your story?

At this year’s Kaleidoscope we heard testimonies and stories from those who have walked difficult roads – and yet found God as their source of all joy.

Special guest, Debbie Kirsten, also shared her story. A successful journalist and also a mother of three, she has recently released a new book, Chai Tea and Ginger Beer, in which she explains her highs and lows with her husband (and former cricketer), Gary Kirsten. Debbie doesn’t hesitate to share her honest opinions of the pressurised circuit of cricket and also explains the reality of managing their family.

School of the Prophets

We had the privilege of hosting the NCMI School of the Prophets from 16 – 20 March at Bedfordview. We enjoyed five days of studying, exploring, and practicing prophecy.

As God’s people we have been called to prophesy. But what does this mean? How does this work? How do we make sure that we are representing the heart of God? These questions, and more, were answered at this event.

The manual has been adapted from the series of talks, available below.

Prophecy is hearing and doing what God says. The Church today needs to understand what New Testament prophecy is and realise the responsibility of prophecy on the Church. We have been called, by God, to prophesy and to be his Voice in this age.

Martin McCrory – 16 November

Jesus asked Simon, “Do you see this woman?” Simon saw a “sinner” but not a woman. Jesus asked an untouchable, serial divorcee, who was living with a man, to give him a drink. Just because we have living water doesn’t mean we can’t ask a sinner for help.

Come and hear lessons from a serial-divorcee on the subject of living well. This is what Martin McCrory will open up to us on the evening of the 16th of November at Rosebank in the morning and Bedfordview in the evening. As Martin unpacks God’s love for all he’ll tell us about how he came to find Jesus as one who practices what he preaches and how Jesus loves us all – regardless of your sin or background, you are accepted by Jesus.

The evening meeting at Bedfordview will be a café evening, so invite friends and bring food to share!

Martin is an entrepreneur and an elder at Solution Church in Westville, KZN.  He is the MD of GodBrand.com, an apparel company, and Its4Real, a non-profit organisation established to inspire the development of personal and corporate character authority through motivational media. Martin’s weekly television program has run on SABC, SABC Africa and TBN.

He is a capacity builder and team work expert, an on-the-ground strategist committed to empowering lives through principle-centred living. He is also a champion sponsored fitness athlete and provincial surfer, awake every day to the unexpected, and lives to see the unseen and discover the mysteries of godliness. He lives in Westville, KZN, with his wife Vanya and his three girls; Evangeline, Aquilla and Guinevere.

MORE ABOUT GARY:

As a batsman, Gary Kirsten’s career spans 101 test matches, the first ever Protea to do so, and 185 One Day Internationals for South Africa, between 1993 and 2004, mainly as the opening batsman. He held numerous records, including the highest innings by a South African in a One Day International (188 not-out made against the United Arab Emirates during the 1996 World Cup, which is the sixth highest innings of all time in One Day International cricket, and the highest score in World Cup cricket history). His determination, consistency and passion, coupled with a unique technique, has made him one of the best cricketers in South Africa’s long and successful cricket history.

After retirement, Kirsten organised a cricket academy in Cape Town. From 2008 to 2011, he took the job as the coach of the Indian cricket team. The results of his experience and ability to inspire was seen within months, described by the Indian captain M.S. Dhoni as “The best thing to happen to Indian cricket.”

After his contract ended, Kirsten then became the full-time coach of the South African national cricket team. Under Kirsten, in August 2012, the Proteas ended up at the top of the ICC Test rankings. However, in 2013 Kirsten decided to step down as the coach to spend more time with his family. He now has many business interests and is a sought-after guest speaker.
