Nepal Equip 2014

We’re heading to Kathmandu, Nepal for the Nepal Equip 2014. Bill Tayler is leading this trip.

The dates:

EQUIP is 22 – 24 September
We’re doing a Youth Equip on 25 September (If you are over 30 you are still welcome to attend this).

Each day of the Equip will have two morning sessions and two afternoon sessions.

FLIGHT COST WILL BE ABOUT R9,000

The Church in Thyatira – Compromise and Tolerance

It’s The Exchange this Friday, 6 for 6:30am! We’ll be continuing our series on the letters to the churches in the book of Revelation, applying the message found there to the marketplace.

This Friday we’ll be speaking on the Church in Thyatira, which seemed to compromise its values on several issues. Almost every day at the marketplace we are faced with situations where compromising our values would be easier to do – especially when it comes to how we live in our busy city and manage our time between family, church and vocation.

Worship Training

We’re having a worship training time at Cornerstone Church Bedfordview on Saturday, 19 July from 9am to 3pm.

There’s no charge but you need to register below for catering purposes.

We’ll be covering both spiritual and technical aspects of worship and most of it will be related to corporate (musical) worship.

Wake Up

It’s The Exchange this Friday, 6 for 6:30am! We’ll be continuing our series on the letters to the churches in the book of Revelation, applying the message found there to the marketplace.

The letters are addressed to particular churches but the message is for the whole church. It’s worth noting that with the exception of Smyrna and Philadelphia the danger from within each church is more destructive than the danger from without. Jesus knows the strengths and weakness of each one. The opening description reminds each church of some specially relevant aspect of his person or work. One is never alone or abandoned but Jesus stands among his people.

Let us see how the church in Sardis is so similar to that which we are facing today as we live out our lives in Johannesburg. There are many similarities between then and now with regards the challanges we face in our hectic lives as we try to combine family, church and our vocation.

Revelation 3: 2
Wake up, and strengthen what remains and is about to die, for I have not found your works complete in the sight of my God.

Easter Weekend 2014 Details

This weekend we celebrate the death and resurrection of our King, Jesus. Why not break bread with your family and friends at some stage this weekend, and in your Life Groups this week? (For a resource on breaking bread and why we do it, check out our DEVOTE: Breaking Bread booklet.)

If you’re coming to visit or are a part of Cornerstone, here are the arrangements for the weekend:

  • Bedfordview will be having a Good Friday meeting at 9am. Bring hot cross buns to share!
  • All the sites will celebrate Resurrection Sunday at the usual Sunday morning meeting times of the respective site. Check out the different sites here. Uptown will also start its new series on sex and relationships on Sunday morning.
  • Bedfordview’s Sunday morning meeting will also be a family meeting (kids join us in the meeting – Cornerstone Kids will not be running).
  • There will be no evening meeting at Bedfordview.
